Angove Street Offcut Parklet

Located in-front of Future Shelter this project was commissioned as part of the City of Vincent’s Parklet program. It uses a large volume of timber off-cuts salvaged from a larger public space project, the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk Performance Deck. The project presented an opportunity to explore merging public space as well as soft landscaping with public art to achieve an outcome that is not only functional but engaging and sculptural in nature. The offcuts were arranged in the stacked form reflecting their condition when first viewed on the construction site. We believe these ideas can be further extended in collaboration with artists to use Percent for Art funding to achieve functional public space infrastructure that is also highly engaging and possesses an embedded level of artistic integrity.
